The Science Museum was founded in 1857 as part of the South Kensington Museum. The Museum was separated administratively from the Victoria & Albert Museum (which the South Kensington Museum was renamed as) in 1909. The Science Museum’s collection of 300,000 objects showcases the history of Western Science, Technology and Medicine since 1700.

The Museum has interactive learning galleries like the Garden and Pattern Pod and will open a state of the art interactive exhibits gallery in late 2016. The Museum organises daily on-gallery demonstrations, regular free science shows and events for schools. There is an IMAX 3D theatre where a variety of special science related films are shown.
